An Afternoon at Studio Five08 – Beautiful Machine Track & Field Exhibit

I enjoy the summer because not only do I get to leave work early, but I get to hangout in my favorite cities longer to shop, eat, or just browse. A couple Fridays ago, my sis and I hung out in Santa Monica for an afternoon. We like to park, walk, and make rounds to different businesses. We bond and revel in the moment of being tourists in our town. On that day, we stopped by Studio Five08 to see a photo exhibit called Beautiful Machine. Here are some *snaps from my visit:

Here’s David Brady. He’s the curator of Beautiful Machine and a very talented artist. I can also add comedian to his list of talents because my sister and I laughed as he told his very colorful tales of living in Los Angeles.

In our short chat with David, he said that his team may extend the exhibit to the end of August. Please call to confirm before going though.

*FYI, I am not a photographer, nor am I trying to be. I simply wanted to capture the moment.

If You Love Hip-Hop Then You’ll Love The Film, “The World Is Yours”

“The World Is Yours” is a feature-length documentary on how Hip Hop’s use of the Internet revolutionized the music industry featuring Wiz Khalifa, Lil B, Odd Future and many others, narrated by Issa Rae from Awkward Black Girl. Check out the trailer:

I am proud to say that I had the pleasure of assisting the director, Marguerite de Bourgoing and Hip-Hop journalist, Rebbeca Haithcoat with a few of the interviews. Currently, they need funding to complete the film. Visit the TWIY Kickstarter page to find out more.

My visit to Diane von Furstenberg’s, ‘Journey Of A Dress’ exhibit

When I first entered the showroom displaying the 40 years worth of Diane von Furstenberg designs, I was overwhelmed with excitement. I had to do a few laps around the exhibit in order to take in all of the designs. Here are my favorite shots:

Music Video of the Week: T|U|K|O – Prince Shxt

I must give a major pat on the back to my cousin T|U|K|O, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, on the release of his new video, “Prince Shxt”. The visual, directed by PK Robinson, has a tribal influence to match the great bass line in the track. Check it out:

“Prince Shxt” is featured on his latest EP, I&U (Infrared and Ultraviolet).

LA Timez: I Danced in Lova Boy’s Music Video

I had the pleasure of dancing  in Lova Boy’s music video, “God Pickni (God’s child).”  Lova Boy aka “Prince of Belize,” is a Punta Rock artist that has quite a following in Belize and in Los Angeles’ Belizean community. In God Pickni, he deviated from  his party boy ways to express his faith to his fans.

We shot the video on one hot summer day in July and boy oh boy was it a lot of hard work.  We made sure we stayed hydrated and had fun. I left the shoot with a whole new respect for artists. Sometimes we get caught up in the results and don’t think about the time, blood, sweat and tears they put into a project.  So with that said, what good is hard work without sharing the goodies? Check out the visuals. Enjoy.

P.S. I am the dancer with the long braids.
