If You Love Hip-Hop Then You’ll Love The Film, “The World Is Yours”

“The World Is Yours” is a feature-length documentary on how Hip Hop’s use of the Internet revolutionized the music industry featuring Wiz Khalifa, Lil B, Odd Future and many others, narrated by Issa Rae from Awkward Black Girl. Check out the trailer:

I am proud to say that I had the pleasure of assisting the director, Marguerite de Bourgoing and Hip-Hop journalist, Rebbeca Haithcoat with a few of the interviews. Currently, they need funding to complete the film. Visit the TWIY Kickstarter page to find out more.

Snail Mail Drop: Snoop Lion Reincarnated Documentary and Album

GEDSC DIGITAL CAMERA
Shout-out to Stampede Management for sending over Snoop Lion’s Reincarnated documentary and album. The documentary was a hit at the 2013 South by Southwest Music Conference and Festival (SXSW), so I look forward to seeing the evolution from Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion, and hearing the reggae-influenced album in its entirety.

The Res Documentary (Trailer)

In The Res Documentary, viewers get a first-hand account of what the rock-soul singer candidly expressed in the song “Industry Diary” when she said, “What I’m goin’ make of me?/ Do I turn my back on the industry?/and live a life of normalcy?” Like many struggling artists, she questioned her place in the music business, especially after being dropped from MCA Records even though 3 singles from her critically-acclaimed debut album, How I Do, released in 2001, got decent airplay.

Documentarian Steve Zegans follows Res around the country as she works to resurrect her career. The documentary introduces fans to two new releases, an EP of Fleetwood Mac covers called ReFried Mac and her third solo CD, plus songs by Idle Warship.
