Crush of the Week

Bro of the Week: Tuko of Tha Boogie

After releasing 3 albums with Tha Boogie and being mentored by award-winning singer-writer-producer, Raphael Saadiq, Tuko, a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter released his first solo album, Infrared and Ultraviolet (I and U). He steers from the bubbly-pop sound that Tha Boogie is known for, and goes for beats that thump harder and lyrics that are aggressive yet candid.

Last week, we had the privilege of attending his album release party at Tru Hollywood Nightclub, where a couple hundred of his friends and loved ones gathered to support him. The 9-track album was made in a very special place: his bedroom. He said, “I can say that everyone on my album has been in my bedroom. And to bring the album from my bedroom to you guys, here at Tru Hollywood, is such an honor.” Highlight tracks: “Ready For The World/Tragic End,” ” Poisonous Tradition,” “2020 AD,” and “Prince Shxt.” What I took away from the party is that Tuko is eager to pursue his dreams. Fear and insecurities will not stop him.
